Max Mulvany was born in London in 1990. He studied Fine Art at the University of Oxford where he was also the staff cartoonist for the University’s oldest student paper, The Cherwell.

He has since worked as staff cartoonist at The Gateway, a paper circulated to the Russell Group of universities

He was awarded ‘Runner Up’ in the Young Cartoonist of the Year 2012. (View entry) and has had work featured in The European Magazine, the Cartoon Museum, London and The Independent

  1. I really liked your ‘Encaenia Afternoon’ which I saw today in the Town Hall. But oh how dull and dismal most of Oxford Art Prize entries are!

    • Thanks for telling me so, Andrew! Yes it received no recognition in the prize giving. But I think the public had their say on the quality of the submissions. Sales under £200 for a two week exhibition across two galleries from what I hear…

      I’d rather hold on to it to be honest as I’m trying to make enough similar work for a show
